1. What is Samatvam?
Samatvam is a community initiative that offers affordable counseling and therapy services to college students. We aim to provide mental health support tailored to the unique challenges faced by young adults.

2. Who are the counselors?
Our counselors are qualified professionals with experience in various therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Art Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).

3. How can I book a counseling session?
You can book a session through our website by filling out the appointment form. You can also contact us via our social media platforms or email to schedule a session.

4. Is the information shared during sessions confidential?
Yes, all information shared during your sessions is strictly confidential. Our counselors adhere to ethical guidelines that protect your privacy.

5. What issues can I discuss with the counselor?
You can discuss a wide range of topics, including stress, anxiety, depression, relationship conflicts, self-esteem issues, academic pressure, and more. Our counselors are trained to help you with various emotional and psychological challenges.

6. What if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment?
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please notify us at least 24 hours in advance. This allows us to offer the time slot to another student in need.

7. Are the sessions conducted online or in person?
Currently, we offer online sessions to ensure accessibility and convenience for students. You can join the session from a comfortable and private space.

8. How much does a session cost?
We aim to keep our services affordable for students. Our rates range from ₹300 - ₹800 depending if it's a counselling session or a therapy session. Please refer to our service page here for more details.

9. How long is each session?
Each counseling and therapy session typically lasts about 45-50 minutes. The duration may vary based on individual needs and the type of therapy.

10. Can I choose my counselor?
Yes, you can choose your counselor based on your preference and their availability. If you're unsure, we can help match you with a counselor who best suits your needs. You can learn more about the counsellors from here.

11. How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions depends on your individual situation and the goals you set with your counselor. Some issues may require just a few sessions, while others might need ongoing support.

12. What should I do if I have an emergency?
If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, please seek immediate help from emergency services or contact a mental health crisis helpline. Samatvam does not offer emergency counseling services. However, you may reach out at the following helplines:

13. Can I contact my counselor between sessions?
Counselors are available to communicate between sessions for scheduling or urgent concerns. However, for ongoing support, it is best to discuss issues during scheduled sessions.

14. How do I prepare for my first session?
Before your first session, think about what you would like to discuss and the goals you wish to achieve. It can be helpful to jot down any questions or concerns you have. Therefore, keep a notebook and a pen handy to take notes during your session.

15. Will I have to do any work outside of the sessions?
Depending on the type of therapy, your counselor may suggest activities or exercises to practice between sessions. These are designed to support your progress and help you achieve your goals.

16. What if I don’t feel comfortable with my counselor?
It's important to feel comfortable with your counselor. If you feel that the match isn’t right, you can request to switch counselors without any hesitation. Your comfort and progress are our priorities.
